In 1981, Javier, a shepherd from Sunbila,
a small town in the Baztán valley in Navarre, bravely
left his homeland to come to the US. Upon arriving
in Arizona, he faced the challenge of dealing with
rattlesnakes, threatening his daily work of shepherding.
Despite the countless rattlesnakes he had to kill
to protect the lambs from being harmed, many were
nonetheless killed by snake bites. Luckily, Javier found
a way to make good use of the unfortunate situation.
The entrails of the poisoned lambs, which were not
suitable for human consumption, found an unexpected
purpose in the production of collagen for making
lipsticks. Little did he know that the chain of events
would lead to an inspiring connection. In the same year,
in 1981, Deborah began her groundbreaking work
as one of the first female executives in Reno’s casino
business, using lipstick.
